Study@UCLan

At UCLan, your future is our commitment. We want to provide you with the advantage you will need to thrive in the career of your choice, through our high quality teaching, first-class facilities, our support and our links to some of the world’s most exciting researchers and employers. Against a background of ‘real world’ research we encourage innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.  That’s why UCLan has been rated Top Modern University in the NW for the 6th year running by The Sunday Times Good University Guide.

With a wide range of courses to choose from, we have grouped them into subject areas or disciplines. If you want a course that concentrates on one subject, you should choose a single honours degree. If you are interested in a particular subject, but want to broaden your study, you should choose a combined honours degree – some of the more ‘popular’ combinations of subjects have been suggested as joint honours degrees.

UCLan has evolved over the years to become a world class institution, recognised with its inclusion in the 2010 QS World Rankings – the first Modern University in the UK to gain this status. With 11 areas of research judged ‘world leading’ in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, UCLan has the global recognition of its peers, with a focus on applied research, including the identification of human remains in mass disasters, the development of new sign languages, and a variety of health-related research initiatives that are helping to change lives around the world.

Amongst its programme portfolio of some 500 undergraduate and 200+ postgraduate courses, UCLan has been at the forefront of developing degrees in the emerging disciplines of Journalism, Fashion, Forensics and Sports Science. The range of excellence extends to include the likes of Pharmacy, Architecture, Astrophysics and the first new School of Dentistry to be launched in the UK in more than a century.
