The essence of the University of Stirling is its great people: our graduates, staff and students are helping to shape the world. Founded by Royal Charter in 1967, the University of Stirling was the first genuinely new university in Scotland for over 400 years. We retain our pioneering spirit and a passion for innovation and excellence in all we do.

We aim to be at the forefront of research and learning that helps to improve lives. Working with academic, commercial, public, private and voluntary sector partners, Stirling is one of the UK’s leading research universities in the fields of health and wellbeing, the environment and people, culture and society, enterprise and the economy, and sport.

Students are at the heart of what we do and we provide one of the best all round student experiences in theUK. In learning and teaching, we work with our student community to deliver high quality programmes that produce intellectually able graduates who are highly sought after by employers. We are ambitious for our students, and our flexible learning opportunities enable them to explore and discover new subjects and interests.

There is a vibrant and growing postgraduate community and we welcome students, researchers and staff from around the world. This gives our research and teaching a global outlook, while remaining relevant to our Scottish culture and economy. We offer a wide range of exciting and business-focused undergraduate degree and taught  post graduate degree programmes, and are recognised as a centre of excellence for research.

The University of Stirling has developed a series of  part-time and flexible study courses which allows you to fit study around work or other commitments. We have excellent opportunities for international students and also for incoming exchange students who have the option of studying at Stirling for a semester or a year. Built in the shadow of the Ochil Hills, the Stirling campus is situated on a magnificent 310-acre estate, centred around a large loch and 18th-century Airthrey Castle.

The views around campus are breathtaking, particularly as the surrounding woodland changes colour dramatically with the seasons. The campus also attracts a variety of wildlife – ducks, rabbits and squirrels abound – which adds to the relaxed atmosphere.

All facilities are a short walk from each other. In particular, a central social area links the library, eating facilities, shops, Students’ Union and arts centre (the MacRobert). Click on the sub-links on the left of this page for further details of:
